The outgoing  President of the United States of America, Barack Obama gave his farewell speech yesterday, (Wednesday, January 2017) and his speech brought many to tears.

He has opened the History Books by becoming the first Black President to serve the United States.

Many US citizens have not yet accepted the fact that Barack has left Office because he was loved and admired by many.

He has been referred to many as a man to look up to because of how graceful he was as a President. He has left office without any scandals and his leadership has been a great success.

What can we learn from our the first Black President who has Kenyan roots?

Below are 6 Secrets of Success To Learn From Barack Obama

1.He was a very credible leader

Barack Obama was a man of his words. Whatever he promised his people,  he ensured that he delivered.

Unlike many Kenyan politicians who promise the world to us and fail to keep their promises, Obama saw to it that whatever he was capable of doing for the people was done to the letter.

2. He was a great listener

In all the meetings he attended, it was clear that Barack gave people a chance to ask questions, to air the concerns and to voice their opinions.

With the information he gathered, he was able to respond to all issues that came up in a sober manner.

He gave value to everyone’s opinions, even those who strongly disagreed with him.

3. He saw himself as a person and not as a superior to others

In as much as he was the Head of State of one of the most powerful nations in the world, Obama was very humble.

He interacted with the common people as if they were brothers and sisters.

By doing this, he was able to earn respect and trust from the people who elected him into power.

4. He trusted his employees

Obama was not in any way a dictator. Even in his Office, those under him loved him because of his ability to trust them.

He did not micromanage his staff or push them around.

He delegated duties and trusted those under him to do a good job with little or no supervision.

He was a good boss!

5. He had the best advisors

No one has a monopoly of knowledge and no one is a know it all. We all need people to advice us in this journey of life.

Obama had two great advisors, Hilary Clinton and Robert Gates who served as political experts for Barack Obama.

It’s important to note that  his advisors posed as rivals during the elections before he became the president, but he put all that aside and profited from the talented experts who gave him sound advice.

6. He saw other countries as partners of America and not enemies

Barack Obama partnered with other countries on several world issues in order to provide solutions to some problems.

Together with many alliances created by countries including NATO,  the US became friends of many countries.

The same should apply to us also. We should endeavor to make the right friends and form great relationships that will impact our lives positively, if we want to succeed.
