Don’t Always Believe What People Say: Here’s How a Professional CV Improved My Job Search

A CV is the one document that employers will use to know if you are qualified for a position or not. For this reason, it is necessary that the CV is well outlined, presentable and most importantly, communicates your qualifications and skills to the tee. However, most candidates are still making mistakes with their CVs but don’t know it.

Mathew is one such candidate. He wanted to change jobs, but even his qualifications and experience could not land him a job interview. Not understanding what he was doing wrong, he reached out to Corporate Staffing Services for a professional CV. One month later, he got his first response to an interview.

Here is how a professional CV helped Mathew;

Why did you feel it was necessary to have a professional CV?

I had been looking to change my job, but despite having the necessary experience, qualifications and exposure, I didn’t get a chance to show my skills in the jobs I was applying for. That’s when I thought of having a HR firm attend to my CV.

I figured people who worked in HR would be best placed to understand where I was going wrong and prepare me a document worth the time of any Human Resource manager.

So, why did you reach out to Corporate Staffing Services (CSS) specifically?

I knew about Corporate Staffing from numerous web adverts and because I was looking for a job, I kept tabs on the site to see what was new. I later noted that the company offers professional CV writing services for job seekers, so I got interested and reached out.

How was the process, and comparing your new CV to the old one, what were you doing wrong?

The process was smooth and you get your response within the given timeline. In terms of what I was doing wrong, I think the biggest mistake was in the way I organized and presented my skills. Also, how I phrased these same skills was not in line with my career scope.

The person who handled the CV assessed my target segment in the industry and came up with a CV that was specific to the field I was applying. For this reason, I was able to change jobs.

You say the professional CV helped you get a job, after how long was this?

I started getting responses one month after my CV was redone and within a span of 3 months I had received several interview invites. I finally got very competitive offers and was able to choose the one I thought was best for me.

Do you think the fee you had to pay was worth it? What’s your take on the charges?

The fee was quite moderate but I think you should review so as to accommodate job seekers who are jobless as the efforts of making a CV for a first time job seeker and an experienced job seeker are not the same.
